Introducing…Shannon K Photography|Showit website design

Wow!  I suppose the whole point to this blogging thing would be to….I dunno, actually BLOG!  Sorry about that folks.  It’s been a long while!

I have all the excuses in the world and have used them on a pretty frequent basis.  The main one being that I am ridonkulously (uh-huh, it’s that crazy) busy.  Between finishing up some stationery details from some pretty fabulous clients, I’ve also taken on a couple of website designs and updates for some equally fabulous people.

I promise that next week I’ll do a post about stationery goodness but for now, I just have to introduce you to Shannon K Photography!  Let me first start by saying that I assumed she was pretty awesome simply for the fact that she shares the same first name and last initial of myself and I have to say that my first impressions were correct!  Shannon has proven to be one cool cat.  Her emails had me cracking up!

Shannon resides way down south in Arizona, where snow is virtually non-existent.  Sounds like paradise if you ask me!  She had her Showit site up and running but felt it was a little lack luster.  She wanted pizzaz!  A little spice if you will.

After a brief discussion over the phone, I had learned that Shannon has a mega love for tulips, daisies and blue and yellow.  She wanted to make sure her photos were showcased really well in the galleries (and after viewing her site, you’ll see why!)

With that, I give you the unveiling of Shannon K Photography BEFORE:

and after adding a little colour, new logo and spice!

Make sure to tell Shannon how incredibly awesome she is and how much you love her new site!

Lil’ Pink Daisy | Calgary wedding vendors

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to meet the leading lady behind Lil’ Pink Daisy Florals, Joanna.

We met at Starbucks. That seems like the standard meeting spot for any occasion. We grabbed our drinks, sat at one of the tables and immediately delved into getting to know one another.  Somehow our little coffee meeting ended up lasting the better part of 3 hours! Needless to say, Joanna is very easy to talk to.

She is entirely passionate about her budding flower business (pun intended) and building a reputation that people will remember.  It doesn’t take a genius to recognize that her sweet nature, experience, talent and drive to succeed will no question result in a top notch company that I would be happy to recommend to my family, friends and clients.  What’s not to love?

With that said, check her out! Lil’ Pink Daisy Florals.

Annie and Mia | Showit website design

This has been one of my most favourite projects to date.  It could be because it was something new or maybe because it was something entirely out of my element (A fashionista, I am not.) but working on the website for Calgary based fashion designer, Stephanie Dickson, was the motivator behind my branching out to include branding and website design to my repertoire. {SoS Designs}

Stephanie wanted to represent Annie & Mia with a light and airy, yet girly website that highlighted her clothing designs.  In the future, we’ll be adapting the site to include an online shopping model, as well as login pages for retailers and wholesalers.  Have a peek at the current design and make sure to join the Facebook fan page for Annie & Mia.

Congratulations Stephanie and thank you for trusting me to create a site to showcase your beautiful designs!

Lots of fun and exciting news | Calgary Wedding Invitations

Wow!  It’s been a while since my last post.  I have a really good explanation though.  I’ve been busy!  Lots of fun invitation suites, collaborating on some fabulous projects with some of the industry’s finest and launching a new section of my business.  Yep, it’ll be a long post.  So hang in there!

So let me first tell you about a super fabulous project that I was invited to work on with the following uber talented ladies:  Callandra from Cherry Tree Occasions, Julie from Julie Williams Photography, Eve from Forget Me Not flowers, Candice from Tying Knots and Alannah who used to own a local bakery in Banff.

Back when winter was particularly horrible, Callandra and Julie asked if I would be interested in joining their team to put together an entry for this years Inspired Creations Contest; a contest put together by the ladies of blogs The Sweetest Occasions and Elizabeth Anne Designs.  The contest rules stated that we had to create a concept for a Glitter and Glam theme, spending no more than $500.  Some might have thought this impossible (ahem…ME) but with creative genius Callandra at the wheel, we were working on project inspired by “Canadiana Glam”.  While I could go on forever about all of the details carefully planned out in a brainstorming session that took place in Alannah’s basement, I’ll let the FABULOUS shots taken by Julie speak for themselves.  See our feature HERE on Elizabeth Anne Designs.  For a whole collection of photos, please visit Julie’s blog.

Thank you so much to those ladies for allowing me to participate and do something a little outside of the ordinary!

Now onto other news…

When I first started Spoonful of Sugar Invitations, I picked out a templated website.  It was a good fit for someone who didn’t want to dish out a ton of money to showcase my work.  I updated the site as best I could to reflect my personality and more importantly, create a brand of sorts.  It was earlier this year that I realized I hadn’t done a particularly good job with that.  So I took to building my own site.  I used my own design programs in conjunction with Showit; a seriously brilliant, insightful company that created an even more brilliant product.

The response I have had to my new website has been nothing short of amazing.  There have been a plethora of compliments in addition to a number of people inquiring as to who built it.  I decided that everyone should be able to have a great site that they can maintain and update themselves once built.  With that, I give you a brand new division of Spoonful of Sugar….. SoS Designs!  If you know someone who is looking for a custom site that they can maintain and update, send ‘em my way and stay tuned to the blog.  I’ll be launching 2 sites that I’m working on for clients in the next coming months.

Thanks for dropping by and my apologies for the lack of posting!
